Free Training for City Run

Runners planning to tackle this year’s Perkins Great Eastern Run in Peterborough are invited to go to free training sessions.

Werrington Sports Centre, in Staniland Way, Werrington, Peterborough are hosting seven sessions before the run on October 10, with the first due to take place at 7pm on July 14,

Runners of all abilities are welcome and will be supervised in groups by coaches and experienced runners from local athletic clubs. Each group will comprise of runners of a certain ability and level of fitness and there will be no pressure; just helpful advice, company and motivation.

The training evenings begin at 7.00pm with a warm-up session, stretching and various group training runs followed by a warm-down session. Training evenings for 2010 will take place on the following Wednesdays

  • 14th & 28th July
  • 4th & 25th August
  • 8th & 22nd September
  • 6th October

In addition to this, Adidas will attend Werrington Sports Centre on two of the above dates, 14th July and 4th August, from 5.30pm -7pm to offer free foot scanning, in conjunction with Advance Performance, to check people's running shoes.

Peterborough City Council are also offering two Adidas/Advance Performance Perkins Great Eastern Run in-store days on Saturday 3rd July & Saturday 14th August.  Training  Runs plus activities, advice and incentives in-store from Adidas and Advance Performance.

Peterborough City Council has joined forces with one of the 13.1-mile run’s sponsors, Advance Performance, to stage the sessions.
