Rob Huff rekindled his title dream with a superb win in the World Touring Car Championship in Brno on Sunday (1st August).
Huff went into the weekend 69 points behind championship leader and Chevrolet teammate Yvan Muller and knowing he needed to score big to stay in contention for the crown, which he did after converting his pole into victory in the first race before a solid fourth place in race two, closing the gap to 32 points.
The Cambridge driver controlled the rolling start in race one, holding off Gabriele Tarquini and Colin Turkington, to secure his first victory of the season. The second race was won by BMW's Andy Priaulx, ahead of Turkington and Menu, Huff winning a tussle with Augusto Farfus to finish fourth.
Muller failed to score over the two races, while Tarquini was out of the points in race two after retiring with an injector problem, meaning that while Huff is still fourth in the standings on 167 points, he has made up ground on those above him. Muller still leads on 199 points, with Tarquini on 194 and Priaulx on 183.
There are four rounds left in the championship, with the next in Oschersleben, Germany, on 5th September. Visit the Cambridge News website for full reactions from the weekend and to follow the final weekends.
