Road to 2012 is a project led by the National Portrait Gallery in partnership with BT that follows the journey of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. It celebrates all the people who are helping make London 2012 happen.
In July 2010, the National Portrait Gallery commissioned a series of portraits including high-profile pictures and world-class athletes, as well as those working behind the scenes.
For the first year of the project, entitled Setting Out, Brian Griffin and Bettina von Zwehl photographed those who conceived and won the bid for London, those responsible for building and delivering the Olympic Park, young athletes aspiring to be selected for Team GB for the first time as well as World Champions, and Olympic and Paralympic medallists.
Two further exhibitions featuring other commissioned portraits by at least four more photographers will take place in the summers of 2011 and 2012.
Road to 2012: Setting Out is from the 20th of July until the 26th of September so don’t miss out!!!
