Book now for Safeguarding Conference in Sport

LIVING SPORT, County Sports Partnership for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, is organising a Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport Conference in partnership with Cambridgeshire Football Association and Cambridgeshire Cricket Board on Thursday 30th September at the Burgess Hall in St Ives.

The Conference is aimed at raising awareness about child protection in sport in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. It is targeted at local authorities, sports facilities, the education sector and private sports organisations as well as sports clubs, coaches and any other member of the public who wishes to learn more about Safeguarding and Protecting Children.

The benefits of attending this event include an opportunity to network with likeminded people, refresh your knowledge or learn more about the current legislation/recommendations, exchange examples of good practice and gain informal Continual Professional Development.

The national Child Protection in Sport Conference earlier this year was a success, and the Child Protection in Sport Unit are very supportive of LIVING SPORT delivering this event locally.

The core of the conference will be the performance by the Geese Theatre Company. Geese present very interactive drama using fictional performances, based on masks. In this case, the scenario will be set in a sports club.

Key local contacts such as the Cambridgeshire Police, Local Safeguarding Children Boards and Social care services will also be attending and holding stalls for further information.

Tickets are available as a special package with £10 for one ticket, only £5 for a second ticket and a third ticket is then free, a cost of only £5 per person when three tickets are purchased together. Free food will be available including a buffet lunch and high tea.

The Conference is divided into two sessions. The afternoon session for local authorities and professionals will be from 1pm until 5pm, while the evening session for sports clubs, coaches and members of the public will be from 6pm until 9pm.

Please note that a course place can be cancelled without charge, providing notice is received before 16th September. For both chargeable and free of charge tickets, if notice is received after 16th September, we reserve the right to charge a £5 cancellation fee for £5 tickets and a £10 cancellation fee for free tickets.
