Peterborough racer Callum Bowyer kept his bid for runners up spot in the KF2 class of the British Super 1 Series on track, after mounting a couple of charges from the back of the grid at the latest round in North Wales.
The Ken Stimpson School pupil suffered problems in both heats, but roared from 11th to third in his second outing, posting the fastest lap of the race along the way. Bowyer repeated the feat when climbing from 10th to third in the first final before dropping back to fifth late in the second showpiece race.
Two rounds of the Championship remain at Whilton Mill, near Daventry, and at the PF International track at Grantham.
Bowyer is still seeking sponsorship. Anyone interested in backing him should contact mum Tracey on 01733 701099 or 07960 400731, or email callumfk3@hotmail.com.
