Wayne Bailey and Tristan Morton are through to the semi-finals of the men’s pairs at the English Bowls Championships in Worthing.
The Warboys White Hart duo beat Jon Stradling and Robert Newman, of Reading, 19-18 in the last eight yesterday, having earlier seeing off Cowes Medina’s Adam Clark and Paul Dickinson 22-11 in the third round.
Littleport’s Eric Kemp and John Alexander crashed out in the second round with a 25-9 loss to Ross on Wye’s Dan Palmer and Phil Middleton.
Eynesbury’s Barry Kitto and Ryan O’Flanagan suffered a 30-19 first-round defeat to Daniel Tomberry and Mark Tomberry, of Alexandra Park, while March Cons’ Keith Hunt and Brian Baxter lost 29-13 at the same stage against Stradling and Newman.
Matt Coppen and Peter Adams, of Royston, went down 25-17 to Loughborough Queen’s Park’s Harry Brown and Roy Morley in the opening round. Adams also went out in the quarter-finals of the men’s over-55 singles with a 21-4 defeat to Joe Stevens, of Epsom Park. He had earlier beaten Anthony Little, of Edenside, 21-14 in the opening round.
