Cambridge Javelin thrower Goldie Sayers, ranked 4th in the world, was forced to withdraw from the England squad for the Commonwealth Games in Delhi due to ongoing concerns over a hip injury suffered during the Aviva National Athletics Championships in June.
Despite the rehab going well, Goldie felt she would have been unable to do herself justice by the time of the Commonwealths in October and would rather give away her spot to someone who’s fully fit to compete.
Sayers admitted being very disappointed but felt like she needed the extra time to make sure she is right for next year’s world championships and the London 2012 Olympics.
