Hunts bowlers celebrated the last few days of august by tearing up record books in seven hectic days at Worthing and Skegness. Indeed three titles, two final defeats and nine semi-final places made this week a very successful one in Huntingdonshire bowls history.
Warboys pair Tristan Morton and Wayne Bailey won the Dennis Mowers Pairs Title at the EBA finals at Worthing. They clinched their title in style with a 22-19 win over the Lancashire duo in the final.
The Hemingford trio of Lynda Childs, Janet Chapman and Pat Lawrence then collected the Two Bowl Rink Title at the EWBF finals in Skegness, the same title won by Childs’ mother, Neb Bailey, 41 years before.
And Papworth bowler Lewis Baker won the Four Wood Singles in Skegness. The 19 year-old made up for five years of first-round exits by winning 21-18 against the experienced Alan Lawton of Durham.
