Safeguarding Conference - Book Now

LIVING SPORT, County Sports Partnership for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough is hosting its first Safeguarding and Protecting Children in Sport Conference in partnership with Cambridgeshire Football Association and Cambridgeshire Cricket Board on Thursday 30th September from 6 to 9pm at the Burgess Hall in St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

The Conference is aimed at raising awareness about child protection in sport and we would like to invite any sports clubs, coaches, volunteers and member of the public who works with children and wishes to make their sporting environment as safe as possible.

This will be a very interactive and informative conference featuring stallholders such as Local Safeguarding Children Boards and Social care services, key note Speaker Adrian Loades Head of Children’s services and a drama performance by the Geese Theatre Company4 who will be bringing safeguarding issues alive through sports based scenarios. A complementary high tea with scones and cakes will also be available.

LIVING SPORT’s Chief Executive, Simon Fairhall says that “The interactive theatre piece that GEESE have developed around this very important subject is excellent, thoroughly realistic scenarios for sports facilities and Sports Clubs provoking plenty of thought, discussion and hopefully action.  This Conference is important for sports organisations working to make sport a safe environment for children and young people, challenging to ensure implementation of good policies and practices”.

Tickets are available as a special package with £10 for one ticket, only £5 for a second ticket and a third ticket is then free, a cost of only £5 per person when three tickets are purchased together. Free food will be available including a buffet lunch and high tea.

The Conference is divided into two sessions. The afternoon session for local authorities and professionals will be from 1pm until 5pm, while the evening session for sports clubs, coaches and members of the public will be from 6pm until 9pm.

To book online please visit the event section of the LIVING SPORT website or contact Lucy Vollborth on 01487 841559 and lucy.vollborth@livingsport.co.uk for more information about the Conference.
