St Neots Rugby Club's Ladies demonstrated great potential in their first competitive fixture on Saturday, despite losing 30-10 to the well established Shelford Ladies.
A resilient St Neots held off Shelford for more than a quarter of an hour before they were broken down. However, the team rallied and after good work from Charley Braund, captain Marni Woolhead was able to sprint half the length of the field to score St Neots'historic first try.
The ladies finished on a high. Building deep from within their own half, they earned a penalty on Shelford's 10m line. A quick tap from Woolhead allowed her to set up Megan Giglia to crash over the line.
Training takes place at St Neots Rugby Club every Tuesday from 7pm, and is open to players of any ability. For more information, please contact Marni Woolhead on 07857 161000 or email marnie_woolhead@hotmail.com
