The Dancing for Fun and Fitness class is restarting at Leverington Village Hall on the Thursday 21 October 2010 from 10-11am. We would like more people to join us, newcomers always welcome. Mention this article to the teacher and get the First Class free!
The class comes from LIVING SPORT’s Dancing for Fun and Better Health from Age UK ‘fit as a fiddle’ programme , encouraging the 50+ community to get active through dance.
Dancing is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, keep fit and mobile, and of course to have fun. The class is a non partnered class designed to get your body moving and to make you smile. Learn new choreography to some of your favourite songs. Move your body, get your brain working and have fun all at your own pace.
Kate the Dance Teacher who leads the class describes ‘ its great that the class is restarting after the summer break. The group feedback to me what type of dance/ songs they like and I choreograph a routine to get their bodies moving, with adaptations to make it easier or harder depending on the persons mobility or level. We have done everything from the West End Musicals, Abba, Salsa and much more. Whether you have a background in dance or have never danced a step before I would love to see you’
Claire Smith the Dancing for Fun and Better Health coordinator says ‘The class is a fun filled hour of moving your body, using and improving your memory, and a great chance to socialise with those in the group. The class take breaks and Kate is always on hand to recap the moves and offer alternatives to make sure everyone has fun and feels comfortable working at their own pace. I think my favourites so far have to be Singing in the Rain or Rocking around the Clock’
The class takes place on a weekly basis. For more information please contact Claire on 01487 849912, email Claire.smith@livingsport.co.uk or click here.
