Emma Pooley is celebrating after striking gold in the women’s time trial at the World Road Championships in Australia.
The former Cambridge Triathlon Club member, who won a silver medal in the time trial at the Beijing Olympics two years ago, is the first British woman to win a medal of any kind at the event.
Pooley, who will travel to Delhi for the Commonwealth Games once the competition is over, was quickest at every checkpoint on the 22.9km course.
