The Sportivate programme is part of the Play strand of Sport England’s mass participation legacy programme ‘Places, People, Play’. Sportivate is a 4 year programme that will be delivered from 1st April 2011 – 31st March 2015.
The overall aim of the programme is to get 300,000 participants aged 14-25 years to complete weekly coaching sessions over the 4 years, with two in five (120,000) to carry on playing sport regularly.
LIVING SPORT will be accountable for the delivery of the programme for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough. A critical role for LIVING SPORT will be to identify providers that offer high quality and sustainable activities for the target age range. There will be an emphasis on ensuring coaches selected by providers offer high quality and compelling activities.
The Sportivate offer will start with participants accessing and completing a six week course of high quality coaching sessions. At the end of the coaching sessions they will be supported into a local club or alternative sports provision to continue their participation. During the six weeks the participants may also work towards an event or personal challenge.
