Eligible and Ineligible Costs

The Sportivate programme has a funding budget of £32million from the National Lottery to spend over the course of the 4 years, £8million per annum.

Funding will be allocated between county sports partnerships according to the percentage of 14-25 year olds that live in the county.

Cambridgeshire has 84,200 14–25 year olds, which equates to 1.55% of the national population, therefore the Sportivate programme within Cambridgeshire & Peterborough has a delivery budget of around £90,000 a year.

LIVING SPORT do not have a funding request limit within the Sportivate programme for Cambridgeshire & Peterborough, however we suggest the following as a guide to applying organisations:

  • Activities should request around £25 per person if your project is engaging with 14-16 year olds or £35 per person if your project is engaging with +16, per 6 week course.  Additional expense would need to be financed through partnership funding.

Please note that this is a guide on how much you will be able to secure. Further discussion on additional funding requests should be made to Ross Hayward.

Examples of eligible and ineligible costs are listed below.

  • Eligible costs include:
    • Staffing to deliver projects
    • Expenses for volunteers who help run projects
    • Hire of facilities used to deliver projects
    • Transport (to get participants and staff/coaches to projects)
    • Marketing/Publicity of Sportivate activities (posters, design time, printing)
    • Administration costs
    • Equipment (Equipment funding requests must not exceed 20% of total funding request due to Lottery funded project regulations)
  •  Ineligible costs include:
    • Overheads (storage of equipment, insurance and asset register maintenance)
    • Retrospective activities (activities that have already started)
    • Items purchased before funding is offered
    • Statutory items – e.g. booster seats
    • Buildings or refurbishment costs
    • Projects that have no clear community/sustainable exit route
    • Purchase of vehicles
    • Items with poor value for money
    • Projects that are insufficiently targeted

Allocation of funding is subject to Sport England final approval.
