Congratulations to Les Rouse who won the Volunteer of the Month for April. Les is a key member of the Fen Edge Runners club, and despite significant health problems of his own last year is a highly motivated and committed member of the club.
He has qualified as a guide runner, and has also been nominated as a mental health ambassador this year too, and is very keen to promote running as an inclusive sport for all abilities. He takes a keen interest in mentoring the development of our new run leaders, and is always first to volunteer to help out with club activities – in April, Fen Edge Runners Club raised over £400 for ‘Get Kids Going’ by putting on a running event in which Les was instrumental in delivering this event and ensuring its smooth operation.
Les is always cheerful and encouraging, and plays a large part in developing the beginners programme, giving up many hours of his time to deliver couch-to-5k in different villages. Les is also an excellent role model for the older athletes in particular, and the club hopes to build on this over the next few months.
