Cambridgeshire Young Representative Presents at National School Games Summit

Tuesday 20th November 2018 was the date of this years annual School Games Summit of which School Games Coordinators, School Games Lead Applicants and National Governing Body leads from across the country attended. The event itself was held at Coventry’s Ricoh Arena and was hosted by both Youth Sport Trust and Sport England.

The day itself allowed for sharing of ideas and best practice, celebrate achievements and stretch thinking. As part of the day, attendees were fortunate to listen to guest speakers such as Olympic Gold Medalist, Alex Gregory MBE and Paralympic Runner Tim Prendergast who both spoke about their challenges and commitments to achieve what they had achieved throughout their sporting careers and how they got to where they are today.

In addition to the guest speakers, an awards lunch was held by two young persons, of which Cambridgeshire student Jess Lonnen was one of the presenters. Jess was one of the five, Master of Ceremonies at the county’s School Games event in the summer and was put forward to be a part of Youth Sports Trust’s Event Hosts Development Programme by South Cambs SSP SGO, Claire McDonnell.

Jess presented in front of an approximate 300+ crowd and spoke with great fluidity and confidence. Her role was to present alongside another young person and share the stories of the nominees for this years annual awards lunch. Jess did a fantastic job and here she is pictured below.

Well done, Jess.
