Peterborough Deaf Sports Network (formerly DEAFinitely Inclusive) is a partnership of local organisations across the city, led by Living Sport and UK Deaf Sport. It brings together representatives from the deaf community with sport and leisure providers and local charities in Peterborough to increase opportunities, for deaf and hard of hearing people, to play, coach and volunteer in sport.
Currently only 10.8% of the deaf population participate in any type of sport or physical activity and one of the main barriers is communication the network are keen to help groups and individuals find ways to overcome the barrier of communication and other barriers they may face to get active.
The networks mission statement is:
‘We are a passionate motivated group working with the deaf community in Peterborough in order to improve their health by increasing involvement in sport and physical activity in a way that enables them to be involved and achieve their goals.’
