What is the Living Sport Festival of Running?

The Living Sport Festival of Running is a virtual event with the option to enter a 5km (suitable for wheelchairs), 10km or 10 mile distance at any time during November 2020. You can complete your chosen distance at a location of your choosing or at Nene Park where there will be marked routes and route map available.

How does a virtual race work?

In a virtual race you complete your race on a day, time and location of your choosing and submit your own result online.

Is participating in a virtual event safe?

Prior to taking part in the event, make sure you are up to date with the latest Government guidance regarding COVID safety measures for your location. If you are showing signs of coronavirus or have been told to self-isolate you must not take part until it is safe to do so. 

What distances can I choose to enter?

You can choose to enter the 5km, 10km or 10 miles. Only the 5km route is suitable for wheelchairs.

Where are the marked routes?

There will be a 5km, 10km and 10 mile marked route available at Nene Park. The marked routes will be available from 1st to 30th November. Regular route inspections will be carried out however we urge you to carry a route map and familiarise yourself with the route beforehand in case route markers become damaged/dislodged between inspections. For your own safety and others, we ask that you adhere to the latest Government guidance regarding social distancing and be mindful of these when completing your race.  

Is there a route map?

Yes, route maps are available for all the races at Nene Park (5km, 10km and 10 mile). Each route will be marked out at Nene Park for the whole of November as a guide as well.  

Is a GPX file available for the routes?

Yes, on our Route Maps page, follow the links to the online routes on plotaroute.com you can download a GPX file from there.

Do I have to run my chosen distance?

You can complete your race however you choose - you can walk, jog, push or run, it's your race! All abilities are welcome, and you can race at your pace doing whatever suits you best. 

Can I run with a dog or buggy?

Yes you can, it’s completely up to you how you want to complete the distance. We simply ask that you keep in mind the safety of yourself and others at all times.

Can I run the virtual race on a treadmill? 

No, for all distances the race must be run outside and not on a treadmill.   

Is there a time limit or cut off time?

No, you can take each distance at your own pace. However, just like the physical event please ensure that you have sufficiently trained and to the best of your knowledge, you are not suffering from a condition, illness, injury or other physical disability or impairment that may prevent you/or render you unfit to participate.

I don’t live in Peterborough or Cambridgeshire can I still complete? 

Absolutely, the event is open to everyone.

How do I enter? 

Visit our registration page to enter. We’ll need you to complete a short form and make payment online.

Can I enter after the 1st November?

Yes you can enter at any point, but please remember you must complete your race and submit your time before 30th November 2020.

Is there a minimum age? 

No there is not a minimum age, however participants under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. 

Will you supply race number bibs?

There will be no race number bibs supplied for this event. Your name and email address will be used to recognise your entry.

How do I record my race? 

To record your race, you can either use a tracking app such as Nike NRC, Asics Runkeeper or Strava or it can be simply be done with a watch. Once you have completed your race and wish to submit your time you will simply need to enter the final time on the form. You won't be required to upload your race or photographic evidence. 

Can I still complete if I don’t have a device to record my run? 

Yes you can still compete it is not necessary to record your run on a specific tracking app. You can record your run on a watch.

How do I submit my time? 

You will be able to submit your time via a form on our website from 1st November. You will be required to input your finish time, no other evidence is required. We’ll be using an age-graded calculator to create a weekly leaderboard for each distance as well as final results. Times must be submitted before the 1st December.

How does the age-graded calculator work? 

An age-grading percentage provides a way of measuring and comparing your result with all participants regardless of age or gender. The calculation takes in to account your age and gender to produce a single percentage value.

How do I receive my medal and T-shirt? 

Everyone completing the race will receive a Living Sport Festival of Running medal and T-shirt. If your are participating at Nene Park these will be available for collection from Nene Park Visitor Centre. If you are choosing your own route the medals and T-shirt will be sent by post in December. 

How do you know where to send my medal and T-shirt to?

We capture your address on the registration form when you enter the race. If you need to update your mailing address please email us.

What is Trees Not Tees?

Trees Not Tees is a charity created to offset the environmental cost of producing event T-shirts by offering an alternative and planting millions of trees instead. When registering participants have the option of planting a tree rather than receiving a T-shirt.

What does the entry fee pay for? 

The entry fee covers the cost of the race medal and T-shirt, the organisation and promotion of the event, our race license and the management of the marked routes. Living Sport is a charity and any remaining funds raised go towards the work that we do to improve the health, happiness and wellbeing of people in Peterborough and Cambridgeshire by supporting them to get active through participation in sport and physical activity.

Can I change the distance after entering? 

Yes. If you wish to change the distance participating in, please request this by email.

Can I transfer my entry to someone else? 

If you are unable to participate and wish to transfer your place to someone else please email us to request this.

Are refunds available? 

The entry fee is non-refundable. Your entry fee is invested in the cost of organising and administering the event.

Where will I find results?

Full results will be published on our website at the start of December.

What prizes are there? 

At the close of the festival the leader for each distance will receive a £25 Decathlon voucher. We’ll also be running a spot prize for the best #LSFestofRun2020 photo shared on our Facebook event Page. The final leaderboard result and spot prize winners will be announced at the Living Sport Virtual Sports Awards 2020 showing on 3rd December at 7pm on the Living Sport Facebook Page. 

I registered for the 4 Seasons Peterborough Winter 10 Mile, has my place transferred to this event? 

If you registered for the Peterborough Winter 10 Mile event then you will have received an email from us with information regarding transferring to the Living Sport Festival of Running. If you haven't received this please send us an email stating your full name and date of birth and we will be in touch.
