Get Active

An active and healthy Cambridgeshire and Peterborough is a priority for us at Living Sport. We feel passionately about helping those that live and work in our County to access opportunities and feel supported to live an active lifestyle.

Being physically active can have a huge impact on your health and wellbeing by contributing to maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress and anxiety, and reducing the risk of many health conditions including cardiovascular disease, stroke and some cancers.

While achieving any amount of physical activity is better for you than doing nothing, greater health gains are found when the CMO guidelines are achieved for each age group. See the images below for more information.

Lets get moving Cambridgeshire

Let’s Get Moving Cambridgeshire

We are delighted to be a key partner in Let’s Get Moving Cambridgeshire which is a new programme that has been developed through funding from Cambridgeshire County Council Health Committee, which aims to improve the health of the Cambridgeshire population, specifically by increasing levels of physical activity.

Through this programme you will be able to learn about activities available locally, identify new activities you are interested in and access support to become more active. Visit the website to find out more by clicking on the Let’s Get Moving Cambridgeshire logo to the right.

Satellite clubs

Satellite Clubs make it easier for young people to get active – and stay active. They provide opportunities to take part regularly in sport and activity through the creation of enjoyable, appealing and convenient opportunities for young people that are based around their needs. Current Satellite Club funding is focusing on the 14 – 19 age range, where evidence suggests that there is a drop off in participation in sport and physical activity. Let’s Go Girls

Let’s Go Girls is our county wide campaign to inspire more women in Cambridgeshire and Peterborough to get moving. We know that there is a difference in inactivity levels between men and women, with females (27% or 6.1m) more likely to be inactive than males (24% or 5.3m)*. Therefore one of Living Sport’s priorities is to address this disparity locally through various programmes under the Let’s Go Girls banner. More information can be found on our Let’s Go Girls webpage here   * Actives Lives Survey 2015-16

We spend a great deal of our time at work so having a healthy workplace can have a huge impact on your wellbeing. Our Workplace Health programme is available to all employers across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough. To find out more about our Workplace Health programme click here.
