A sport project or initiative that has had a positive impact on the lives of others around them, this award recognises the significant contribution it has made to their community as a direct result of adopting a more active lifestyle.

Nominees for this category will be considered against the following criteria:

  • Addressed the needs of under-represented groups in sport (e.g. black, Asian and minority ethnic groups, people with disabilities or long-term conditions, low income groups, children and young people or adults aged 55 or over).
  • Increased the take up of sport, or addressed the drop off in participation, by under-represented groups.
  • Demonstrated the “power of sport” to improve or change lives through their work in the community (e.g. fundraising, volunteering, or motivating through entertainment on social media during the lockdown).
