Safeguarding And Protecting Children, Young People And Adults At Risk

Living Sport is committed to promoting the safety and welfare of children, young people and adults at risk engaged in sport and physical activity across Cambridgeshire and Peterborough.

It is essential that any organisation and anyone involved in sport and physical activity adopts good practice when dealing with children, young people and adults at risk, and ensures that their safety is paramount.  Our role is to support you by providing guidance and advice as a positive environment helps people grow and develop valuable qualities such as leadership, confidence and self-esteem.

Every child, young person and adult at risk has the right to have fun, be safe and free from harm whether taking part recreationally, playing for a local club or representing a sport and country at international level.

It is essential that all organisations offering sport and physical activity adopt good practice when dealing with children, young people and adults at risk and ensure that their safety is paramount.  This will ensure that they can enjoy sport and physical activity within a safe and secure environment where they feel protected and empowered to make the most suitable choices.  Providing participants with positive sporting experiences means that they will be more likely to achieve their true potential.

It is the responsibility of everyone to ensure that sports activities are safe and FUN!

Part of our support is running Safeguarding and Protecting Children and Time to Listen courses.

There is also a Safeguarding Adults online course for developing knowledge around working with adults at risk, delivered by UK Coaching in association with Ann Craft Trust.

If you need more information or support please visit the NSPCC Child Protection in Sport Unit or the Ann Craft Trust.
