Lord Taverners Under 19 Boccia County School Competition

Pupils from schools across the county tested their skills in a sports tournament with a difference this week competing in the Paralympic sport of Boccia.

Granta’s first team and Hinchingbrooke took top honours at the school’s County Boccia Competitions. Organised by Living Sport, hosted at Cambridge Regional College, the Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Lord Taverners Under 19 County Schools annual tournament attracted teams from 10 schools around the county with places in the regional level competition up for grabs.Read More

Hinchingbrooke Student Retains National Boccia Title

Hinchingbrooke School student Jabe Peake retained his national Boccia title at the Boccia England BE Cup Finals in Sheffield, beating an opponent in the final that he had lost to earlier in the competition. Jabe played well throughout the competition and attributes much of his recent success to the work that he and his coach have been doing with local Sports Psychologist Helen Davies.Read More

The purpose of the Boccia Development Grant is to encourage growth in the sport of boccia. Grants are available to organisations, schools, community groups, councils, and boccia clubs who will increase the number of new disabled young people and adults regularly playing the sport.Read More

Boost for Boccia in Hunts

Disability sport in Huntingdonshire is set to receive a welcome boost after Huntingdon Indoor Bowls Club Ltd has received a £9660.00 award from Sport England and Boccia England to purchase new equipment. The money will be used to purchase Boccia Equipment, Bowls Buggies and Matting which will open up opportunities for disabled people in Huntingdonshire to try the Sport of Boccia for the first time.Read More
